A room for the work
Signed a lease.
The new apartment has a room for POP X STUDIO.
An atelier.
The work gets its own place in August.
Not production
Second thoughts about a production collaboration.
POP X STUDIO is not moving into stock and standard pieces.
So I don't need production help.
I need technical and design input.
Development of methods.
Jigs.
Small parts.
New ways the objects and colours can take shape.
A collaboration that lets the work keep changing.
No standards
I had an idea about standard sizes.
It came from my initial product focus.
But it doesn’t motivate me to work with standards.
Not now.
The colours are the system.
Where they go can be more open.
Sticks.
Blocks.
Different sizes.
Other formats.
Removed sizes from the Objects page.
Loosening the rules.
Custom paused indefinitely
While composing a custom stick, I realised I need to pause making custom pieces.
I want to focus on developing my own work.
Let the objects emerge from that.
Custom stick test
Started composing a custom Colour Stick based on five selected colours.
Moved colours around.
Tried to add and subtract.
It is not flowing.
Colour Block CB-015
Finished Colour Block CB-015.

Objects on the website
Changed the Shelf page on the website into Objects.
The page now works as an overview of selected objects.
The ongoing stream of objects will live in the Log instead.
Also added a How to get one page.
A place for the practical questions to reside.
Packaging test
Tested shipping packaging for Colour Sticks.
Bubble wrap and repurposed fabric roll tubes sourced locally.
Package dimensions:
155 cm × 5 cm diameter

Approximately 1.05 kg
First draft
Wrote the first draft for The Occasional Letter no. 01.
About following impulses before they make sense.
Working title: 1 + 1 no longer gives two.
Updated the text on the sign up page.
And the sign up mail.
Decided it will go out Sunday evening.
Posted about it on Instagram.
The Occasional Letter
During my morning reflection, The Occasional Letter re-popped into my head.
What should I share in the letter when I’m already sharing ongoing notes about the work here in the log?
Just a recap?
No.
What do I actually want to share?
So after a little ping pong.
Log
= What happened.
Letter
= What I’m starting to understand.
Refinements
Met with K-Dog Production.
Talked sticks, stickstallations, blocks, LED, mounting and possible technical solutions.
He can work with wood, LED and 3D printing.
A more technical layer has entered the work.
Searchable
Made a POP X STUDIO Instagram.
Not as a new content channel.
To be searchable.
A place where people can land and see the project more clearly.
Unofficial 3daysofdesign
People came. From Denmark, Sweden, Japan, USA, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, next door and more.
Some came because they saw a story.
Others because they happened to walk by.
One woman from Texas was passing through Copenhagen on her way to Norway. She saw the white balloon and came in.
Another woman had travelled from Korea and suddenly stood in what she had been following on screen for years.
A product designer from Germany came by and gave me pointers on how to install the stickstallation beyond the prototype.
So many different encounters.
Showing the work was one thing.
Meeting people is what I’m left with.
The difference between online and offline feels bigger now.
This was not my last open studio.
First stickstallation
Made my first stickstallation.
Repeated structure.
Different colours.
Prototype.
Colours:
Pink on cheeks
Green, almost lime
Soil on white sneakers
Almost white
Blue before breakfast
Orange without pop
This direction needs more exploration.
Two days until unofficial 3daysofdesign.
Window display
The unofficial exhibition now has an official window display.
Officially unofficial.
