Refinements
Met with K-Dog Production.
Talked sticks, stickstallations, blocks, LED, mounting and possible technical solutions.
He can work with wood, LED and 3D printing.
A more technical layer has entered the work.
SEARCHABLE
Made a POP X STUDIO Instagram.
Not as a new content channel.
To be searchable.
A place where people can land and see the project more clearly.
UNOFFICIAL 3DAYSOFDESIGN
People came. From Denmark, Sweden, Japan, USA, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, next door and more.
Some came because they saw a story.
Others because they happened to walk by.
One woman from Texas was passing through Copenhagen on her way to Norway. She saw the white balloon and came in.
Another woman had travelled from Korea and suddenly stood in what she had been following on screen for years.
A product designer from Germany came by and gave me pointers on how to install the stickstallation beyond the prototype.
So many different encounters.
Showing the work was one thing.
Meeting people is what I’m left with.
The difference between online and offline feels bigger now.
This was not my last open studio.
First stickstallation
Made my first stickstallation.
Repeated structure.
Different colours.
Prototype.
Colours:
Pink on cheeks
Green, almost lime
Soil on white sneakers
Almost white
Blue before breakfast
Orange without pop
This direction needs more exploration.
Two days until unofficial 3daysofdesign.
Window display
The unofficial exhibition now has an official window display.
Officially unofficial.
Colour shelving
Prep for 3days.
Making room for all the colours.
Jake built tiny shelves from wooden corner trims.
POP X COLOURS ON FURNITURE
Prep for unofficial 3daysofdesign.
Painted our dining table in Grass on white jeans.
STOOLS IN POP X COLOURS
Prep for unofficial 3daysofdesign.
Started painting a few pieces from home in the POP X colours.
First up: old IKEA stools.
The colours are spreading beyond blocks and sticks.
3daysofdesign
Woke up this morning thinking: what if we open our home/studio unofficially during 3daysofdesign?
Shared the idea with Jake over morning coffee.
Done deal.
Already working on the concept.
Not on the programme.
Still open.
POP X STUDIO.
Small Batch by Jake.

SCOBYs.
A small side stop on Christianshavn.
Loewe translation
Saw this Loewe look yesterday.
Drawn to the whole combination.
Turned it into a block.
Colour sampling.
Stripes appeared on the way over.
Will start painting today.
Masking tape
Have been searching for masking tape in different widths. Found it. Bought it.
3 mm.
6 mm.
10 mm.
Also got 40 mm, which I had mistaken for 4 m. Online shopping does that to me sometimes. Guess I have to make big stripes too.
I like stripes.
Also really like this packaging.
Test: Colour turning corners
Still thinking about how to work with imperfect edges.
So now I’m testing colour turning around the corner instead.
A bend.
While sanding and repainting an older block, something else appeared too.
The meeting between old matte test paint and new wood paint.
Matte vs gloss.
I want to play with that meeting too.
Getting glossy varnish.
Test: Controlled chaos
Some blocks have tiny imperfections at the edges.
Just enough to make a sharp line uneven.
The wood also shows itself more when the colour field is clean.
So I’m testing another kind of colour meeting.
Raw wood.
Tape.
A controlled field.
Paint misbehaving inside it.
First test on paper.
Dense. Probably need to calm down.
